If you can't see it, make it.

What is it?

Hack It Back is a new non-profit focusing on teaching technology and leadership tools to teenage girls, so they can learn how to make their own media and represent themselves.

The program is built on four main pillars:

I learned that you don’t have to have a perfect piece, just get your ideas down so your voice will be heard
— Mentee, 14
I learned how to be confident and how to express my feeling and beliefs through visual arts
— Eram, 15
“The program is run in an organized, dynamic, effective manner”
— Panelist

These projects have been made by participants at our Hack It Back workshops. They are made in teams lead by a mentor.

The Stickers

These are our stickers- they are meant to be pasted on images that are offensive to you. See something in the subway that you don't like? That you think would offend girls and women? Paste the stickers on top of them and share it on instagram and twitter! @hackitback

The Workshops:

The Mission:

To give women and girls the leadership and technology tools to make their own media and speak for themselves.

The Vision:

Women and girls, through learning technology, leadership and communication tools from an early age, will become confident leaders in any industry that they choose to be a part of. Furthermore, they will be more prone to speak up for themselves and stop waiting for the media industry to change. By utilizing maker tools and software, we can speak for ourselves.  Therefore, we will be able to see more diversity in the stories being told of women and girls in movies, TV, video games, apps, websites, social media, etc.
